Knowledge in the Wind - Transat Arc 2019

A project by Roberto Casati of Institut Nicod (EHESS/ENS/CNRS, PSL University, Paris, France), Knowledge in the Wind documents the sea environment and on-deck activities of the crew of Albatros, a 67ft monohull, during the transatlantic crossing of Transat Arc 2019 (Las Palmas to Saint Lucia), in the framework of a research on wayfinding in ecological settings.

This is the first full time lapse of a whole crossing, shot over seventeen days at sea at 1 frame per minute.

It provides a window on how sailors past and present are able to harness the trade winds for crossing the Atlantic.
